The Abraham Lincoln hotel was unveiled to the public with a weekend of activities that began on Friday, May 23, 1930 – echoing the glamour of the Roaring 20s yet on the brink of the Great Depression. This new hotel boasted 16 stories, making it one of the tallest buildings in the city. Guests could stay at the Abraham Lincoln for as low as $2.50 a night. The Abraham Lincoln Hotel served the community for decades until September of 2016 when the hotel part ceased operation. The remaining 104 rooms were converted into about 50 apartments. Abe’s Restaurant, Catering and Wedding Venue remains on the lower levels.
