Fascinating! I wonder if those pipes are still there and barred over. I did something similar as a kid. I grew up on what was Werner Farm in Spring Township. When they were constructing one of the last legs of 222 below 724 going south toward Lancaster, there was two big drainage pipes they laid under the highway at the edge of the neighborhood. You could see the light from the other side, it was probably only 300ft. It was an easier way to cut over to Morgan Dr. This was in the very early 2000s. You still occasionally hear stories about kids getting lost in drain pipes and calling for help from a grate in the street. So kids were/are still doing the same stupid stuff 🙂
