Blankenbiller’s Diner sat on the corner of  Lancaster Ave and Museum Road in Shillington, across from the Shillington Diner. Currently, a Wallgreen’s and Wine  Spirits store strip mall sit in it’s place. For many years, this space was occupied by a Blockbuster Video store, CVS and Your Place restaurant and bar. I do not know exactly when this diner closed but I’m guessing sometime in the 60s. Anyone remember?

This is a Pomeroy's charge plate; pre-cursor to the credit card. They were used in the 30s through the 50s. It would be laid in an imprinter with a charge slip, inked and stamped with the buyers name and address and record of the transaction for "easy" bookkeeping. Mainly it reduced written copying errors. Dressing your best on Easter morning used to be the thing to do. Then everyone paraded around the Reading Public Museum grounds to show everyone else how good they looked, I suppose. 😅 Pictured is my Grandmother [middle] and her siblings on Easter morning 1948 The Fairgrounds Square Mall under construction in 1980 with Al Boscov standing center [colorized]
