Wishing all of my followers a happy and healthy new year! Above is a video recap of my year, and the places we have explored together. Hope you have enjoyed the things I have covered this year. Special shout out to those of you who have chosen to support my work monetarily through memberships and donations. It means the world to me that you see the value in the work that I do.
It’s amazing how much can change in 365 days. The year started off a bit rough personally, though I am happy to report it is ending in a much better place. My Mother’s stem cell transplant and immunotherapy treatments have worked well, and her Multiple Myeloma is undetectable for the time being; hopefully years. Since spring I have also managed to shed 30 pounds I have been holding onto since having kids, and can say I physically feel better than I have in the better part of a decade.
With all the ebbs and flows of life I still find it in me to remain optimistic about the future. While everything externally bombards me with the message that the outlook is grim, my own experience paints a different picture. Are there challenges to overcome? Absolutely, but you will never convince me that there is a better time to be alive than right now.
I have spent a decent amount of energy this year advocating for Reading’s historic architecture. My work as a board member for the Foundation of the Reading Pagoda has included creating an online gift shop and the designs of its contents which have raised thousands of dollars in funds for our restoration project. I have also thoroughly documented the process so the public would know exactly what is going on with the building and what the $5 million in ARPA was being spent on. In early 2026 we will be nailing down operations and hope to reopen the building in the spring for the first time in over half a decade.
It is no secret that I care deeply about the City of Reading. Its history is so fascinating, the geography so unique, and the potential so untapped. Which is why I will be throwing my skills behind tangible political change in 2026/27. That is about all I can say about it, for now.
Many sit in their armchairs and criticize, very few navigate themselves to places where they can make a difference. As someone born in 1991, the City has spent my entire existence as a shell of its former self. I urge those in my generation to step into positions of local leadership all across the County. It is beyond time for us to take the reigns. The future belongs to us and our children and we owe it to them to try and create something better out of the hand we were dealt. See you in 2026.
